Aberdeen Hash House Harriers 1541 Hash. Kirkhill Forest Tyrebagger

A good crowd had gathered before 10.45am car park was quite full when I arrived. Weather was looking promising with a slight frost and frozen puddles. Rodger Me Moore making an entrance by slipping and letting out a howl, luckily she did not end up on her derrière.

Aids transferring iron bars between cars, obviously some hash deal. Glen putting wheels on his bike. People looking cold.

The circle was called by R.A. Aids, He quickly looked for a candidate to be Scribe he obviously has not been sleeping too well or his memory is going because he gave it to me (Barbarella). He had very little to say about 1541, a quick check with our oldest hasher who was alive (Willie Watsoff ), unfortunately he was not paying attention that year either!

The rain had started, only to turn to hail.

Ballerina received a down down for neglecting his kids. Little Shit for something that arose from the Friday's Burns Night themed meal.

Over to the Hares, Skinny Witch and One Liner something about looking for the flour low down as "Short arses had laid the trail"? "The beginning would be tough but then it would be easy". 4 and on. No mention of beer or sweeties! One hasher (T Rex or Sir Deadmund) could not stand the thought of no beer and shouted out the question. One Liner said it was ok there was beer.

We all left the circle in the direction of the entrance just to double back up a trial to the right. Soon it was lost and then we were back on track left into the forest. Running parallel with the A96 we passed a backwoods hide where we reckoned skinny and one liner had spent the night.

Over some stumpy bits and across the entrance track. Plenty of flour had been used in the marking of this trail. Round we went only to discover we had arrived back at the car park. Off into the forest in earnest this time, a bit of bog up the hill where T Rex said dinosaurs didn't like hills as I passed him, lost trail at the top.

Fireflaps found the beer check with the dilemma of stop now or carry on but even she thought it was a bit early to finish her run. She opted to carry on running. One Liner putting us right by shouting us back, followed by the thickest wood I can remember climbing and scrambling through, mostly, fallen trees. Willow and Mad Cyclist getting mixed up, eventually being let off the lead. Killer being carried most of the way.

Some talk about the Easter Challenge and what to take while running by Fireflaps and Cinders and how you could hop off and on a mini bus!
The run passed a derelict farm steading with a fantastic view over the airport and Dyce.

Up a field to the corner where we all navigated over or under a rather new looking barbed wire fence. I happened to comment when One Liner said "That's the way Barbarella" "Were you concerned I would get caught?" I said. (Enough to earn me a down down ).

Willie Watsoff , blazing the trail as normal a rare occasion where I was nearest the beer and Watsoff claiming I did not know it was On On from behind. He was wrong as we headed along a moss covered dyke and up to the track where we were told it was free running from here. Watsoff steamed past me and was lucky at the check. We exited the wood and spread out to cover the three options. Fire Flaps stopping and waiting only to say when challenged "Ladies don't check " . Glen (Drill Bit) on his mountain bike indicated he was on the trail but by the time I reached him it was clear there were only 3 spots. Watsoff had got lucky again and picked the right path.

At the end of this stretch there was a steep slippery part covered with tree roots, as we exited, T Rex almost came a cropper but with a balancing act of astounding standard manage to keep upright. Where's my video when I want it.

Back on a main track then into woods again, found the main group debating which way at the wall at the end. Turned left and back off down the hill.

Good view again this time over Clinterty towards Westhill.

I think it's about time I reminded everyone that my father planted every 8th tree in Kirkhill forest. That was the 1947 planting Six men, two lads and a Clydesdale horse. Problem included deep snow and the rabbits being able to run up the drifts over the netting erected to keep them from eating the young trees. My father almost died of pneumonia when he did not look after a cold and was hospitalised.

The trail skirted the A96 and back uphill, across a track, even more uphill to the beer check. A little discussion about how Aids had given me the scribe, he had by now remembered my last effort and was probably regretting giving the job to me.

Back to the carpark, where my Uncle Reg got a mention by Norman Hunter as being a legend. Norman is married to his grand daughter. 87 and he's always the life and sole of the party.

Last week Pigiron and his wife made an early exit, this was because they were needed for the birth of a grandchild.

Little shit for wearing the same tee shirt as last week. (reminding me of the old hiking rule where a tee shirt lasted four days, normal, back to front, inside out front and inside out back.)

Penguin, the secret millionaire, he had left many large denomination notes lying on a table at the Dutch Mill, when someone pointed it out he decided it was not his and gave it to someone in the bar who after a minute realised he had all his money so only then did Penguin accept his own money back. ( he claims the bloke would not accept a beer for his honesty) Lucky Penguin! If you have too much, look to the hash first for your philanthropy!

Barbarella for moaning about his name! False charge if you ask me. Scabers what did I do to upset you?

Deputy RA Scabers stepped in to give Drill Bit a down down for noise pollution his car alarm went off prior to the circle and his mountain bike brakes howled there way round the hash. ( bike taken as relief to a foot injury?)
FiFi, lucky not to get a down down for conducting business discussions during the circle with Glen.

Toy Boy Tom for Friday nights whisky drinking and loss of memory, landing his starter on his head while being sick in the toilets. Toy Boy's quote " May your checks be checked and your on on's be called."

Brought to our attention by, Little Shit how Norman SA Hunter had a problem with his breasts where his nipples were for ever getting joggers. Little Shit had just the answer, a lovely pink bra with sexy black trim. "Next to the skin" was the call and Scabers obliged. Lovely man boobs!

Sharney for inviting Aids to join her for a pee, when he had said in sight of the beer stop "race to the finish" and she had " I'm going this way for a pee you come if you like."

The Hares One Liner and Skinny Witch being brought in to the circle for a customary Down Down. All in all a very successful hash.

After several cars disrupted the proceedings One large 4x4 passed the women in the circle did not miss the fit lads who were being picked up. Discussions carried on after the circle about these men by DSD and friends Red Stripe, Ruth etc. Down downable behaviour girls!
